I have a Master's degree in human computer interaction from the University of Bath. I've conducted usability evaluations and extensive user tests to inform the development of technologies. I established the Living Lab in Knowle West, Bristol and have regularly used this to test solutions and develop projects.
I have a real interest in ensuring the accessibility of technology. I established and ran a consultancy for 6 years, Accessibility Works Ltd, which supported clients in developing technology that's designed for everyone. In 2010 I was a founder member of Accessible Bristol, a cross-sector group advocating accessible design.
I have a great deal of experience in writing strategies, policies, plans and procedures to achieve an organisations technology goals. I also have solid experience of writing successful funding bids to support technology projects. Over the last 5 years I have been personally involved in writing bids which have brought in over £15m.
Dan Evans, Owner, Plan 9 Website development"I've worked with Kevin over the past 6 years on many web projects. Kevin has a great knowledge of all aspects of website development and project management and is skilled at communicating complex technical information to non-technical users. Kevin also has a deep understanding of issues surrounding accessibility, information architecture and the user experience."
Jaya Chakrabarti, CEO, Nameless Web Development"I first encountered Kevin's work on Bristol's response to the Government's Digital Challenge, where he helped to deliver what was, in my view, a brilliant bid that totally did justice to a fantastic city. He's a diligent and responsive PRINCE2 project manager, a highly knowledgeable consultant in usability and accessibility matters, a great sense of humour and really good taste in beer - what more could you ask for?? I hope we continue to have many more opportunities to work with him!"
Andy Martin, Director, Firetail Strategy Consulting"Kevin works in a field where people say a lot and don't do much about it. Kevin is the opposite. He gets things done quietly and effectively, but his cover is frequently blown at award ceremonies, where he is recognised for his work in promoting democracy, technology and civic participation. A smart, honest and likeable son of Jarrow who is always a pleasure to work with."
Joe Leech, Director of User Experience, cxpartners"I've worked with Kevin on a number of projects and was impressed by his ability to analyse a problem and come up with a really innovative solution. He’s one of those people that just “get’s it” which makes working with a great experience. He's also one of the best presenter's I've seen, a real natural."
Tracey Smith, Service Desk Manager, Eduserv"I worked with Kevin on our company office move project. He was extremely organised and made sure everything was completed on time. He has a calming nature and is very personable which is extremely important during stressful projects."
